Improve Executive Functions
Children diagnosed with ADD/ADHD often exhibit difficulties managing themselves in terms of academic and social expectations. They struggle to regulate their behavior and emotional states, as well as organize goal-directed behaviors. These skills are the Executive Functions.
Even children who are well-managed with appropriate ADHD medications will still need direction and support with their executive functioning. Often these weaknesses manifest themselves in the child’s writing which is one of the most challenging tasks students must undertake in school. Deborah understands the multidimensional nature of the writing process and will differentiate and target specific areas of breakdown.
Deborah will help the child develop self-awareness and strategies to help improve attitudes and behavior within the context of the home, school and social environments.
